The Family of Rev. John Hartt
The following history is from the Hartt Family Bible as handed down to Judah Hartt, son of Rev. John Hartt.  This information was supplied to me by my mom's cousin's family.  I met Enella on the Internet while doing this history.  Over the course of several emails, we became aware that we were "the same line." Our research was complicated by the names, which would repeat generation after generation.  In addition to thanking Enella  - I want to thank Janice from the Yarmouth County Museum in Canada for her help with our research.  These two women have helped make this history available to all of our Internet readers.   Best of all - I feel like they have become friends!
Rev. John Hartt was born March 20th, 1830 in Wakld Caron, New Brunswick, Canada.  He married Clarissa (Calarisfa) E. Hammond on December 24th, 1857 in New Brunswick.  Calarifsa was born in December of 1823.  Rev. John and Calarisfa Hartt had one child, a daughter, Irene Hammond Hartt.  Little Irene was born October 3, 1858 and died as a young infant on Oct 31, 1858.  Calarisfa Hartt died only a few years after her daughter on Aug 5, 1862 at the age of 39.

Rev. John Hartt married a second time to Amanda Caroline Kelly on August 8, 1868 in Alva Arrostook, Maine.  Amanda was born in Blipville Sunlurry, New Brunswick.  Amanda gave birth to a son, Judah Frank Hartt, on June 29, 1869.  Amanda died August 2, 1869 at Castle Hill, Arrostook, Maine.

Rev. John Hartt married a third time on Feb. 8, 1870 in Maple Grove Ft. Fairfield, Arrostock, Maine.  His third wife, Rebecca L. Kelly, was a sister to his second wife (Amanda).  One can only imagine that he needed help raising young Judah and that Amanda would be a natural for this role.  Rebecca and Rev. John had another son, John Kelly Hartt, on May 13, 1871 in Maine (my family album puts the birth in Bangor, Maine while the Hartt Family Bible puts it in Ft. Fairfield Arrostook, Maine.)

A bit about John Kelly Hartt's brother Judah's branch of the family  - Judah  married Jennie Dunhan and they had a son, Charles Dunham Hartt - born July 7, 1894 in Canada.  Another son, John K. Hartt, was born September 6, 1896 in Sheridan, Montana. There is also mention of an adopted daughter, Hazel, who was later Mrs. William A. Scott.  John K. Hartt (Judah's son) married Frances Jewel Needham on July 18, 1921.  Charles died Dec. 28, 1968 and John died just one year later on Nov. 30, 1969.  Charles was "shell shocked" from the war and considered "incompetent".  John and Jewel had Frank John, Benton, Shirley, Gerald and William.

John Kelly Hartt (Rev. John's son), came to Wyoming in 1894 and married Minnie Pearl Spragg in Canada in 1909.  They had
6 daughters - Florence Pearl,  Olive Marie, Marjorie Rebecca, Frances Louise, Catherine Ireme and Dorothy Matilda.  John died in Baggs, Wyoming in 1952 and Minnie Pearl died in Denver in 1972.  Judah Frank (Rev. John Hartt's son) came west to Wyoming sometime later than his brother John Kelly, arriving in 1910.  Judah died near Baggs, Wyoming in May of 1930 when he mistakenly poured gasoline onto a fire and was badly burned.   ~ A Tribute to Rev.
