Pearl Lake State Park in Routt County, CO is named for my grandmother, Minnie Pearl Hartt. As you might guess, my family helped to settle this region. This web site is a growing collection of historical information about the State Park. A colorful and dramatic history that dates back to the sheep industry in the late 1800's. I invite you to visit the following page, which gives a short summary of this history. Also - please check out the 5-generation album of historic photos from Hahn's Peak, Colorado and Rawlins, Wyoming - including bio pages on both John Kelly Hartt and Minnie Pearl Hartt. There is also a history of the Hartt family.
As a kid, I would spend my summers at grandma's cabin, which is now on the shore of the lake. I remember those times as the best of my childhood. I am now both practice manager and clinician (Certified Nurse-Midwife) for Thayer Group for Women's Care. A couple of years ago, when I was exploring pioneer license plates, I realized how little knowledge existed about the lake's history. I decided to dedicate this site to preserving that history, and to learning from those who know the history of the region or my family. I plan to write a book from what I learn! I will be adding additional pages to this site about various aspects of the history - so come back often to learn more! My name is Cathy Hartt and if you have any information you would like to share please email me or post a message! |
